My daughter Angel has always been full of love and joy, but as she grew, her behavior became difficult to manage. She was constantly on the move, couldn’t sit still, and had strong sensory needs especially mouthing objects and pulling at her hair. She was also nonverbal, and despite trying everything I could find online, I felt lost and overwhelmed as a single, working mom.
At age 4, with kindergarten approaching, I was desperate for help. That’s when I found the Frank Hilton Organization and enrolled Angel in PBS behavior sessions. From the very first class, I saw a difference. Her teacher was patient and understanding, and not only supported Angel but taught me how to manage her behavior at home.
Within just a few months, Angel who couldn’t sit for even a second was sitting for 5 minutes and longer. She learned to use a chewy toy instead of mouthing unsafe objects, and slowly, she began using words and phrases in English and Hindi. Her attention improved, her mouthing reduced, and I saw a calmness in her I never thought possible.
One of our proudest moments was during a three-day event at Vodafone Arena Angel sat next to me on a chair for over 5 hours without needing to be held or corrected. That was a miracle.
