“Our Daughter Yonah started showing characteristics of Autism at an early age. My husband and I were unable to understand her and communicate with her. Some people said ‘it’s just a phase’ and others said that ‘she needs prayer’ but I knew that there was help somewhere.
We moved to Fiji from PNG a year ago and got diagnosed with ASD at the CWMH. My husband found out about the services provided by Frank Hilton. We were assessed by Speech and Physio Clinicians.
We started therapy with Physio over physio concerns and straight after that we started with Speech therapy. Our first Speech program was ‘Social Communication’. The Parent training was very informative and it answered most of all our questions, and helped us better understand ASD and behavioral concerns.
I thank the Speech and Positive Behavior Clinicians for facilitating this program. We have started incorporating the strategies we have learnt and we have seen changes.
Now we are having Individual Speech Therapy weekly and now in week 4 we have seen progress in Yonah. She’s able to slowly interact with other children, mostly those of her age and be exposed into public places like restaurants and supermarkets and this was something we weren’t able to do.
We look forward to more progress as we continue on with therapy. Thank you Frank Hilton Organization.”
